| In progress | working now |
| Completed | finished |

Step statuses
These describe one step inside a job.
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Completed | the step finished |
| Running | the step is active now |
| Failed | the step did not finish |
| Not started | the job has not reached that step |
| Not run | the job ended before that step |
| Not needed | that step did not apply |
| Not recorded | the step ran but the end state was not recorded |
Only the first four are printed as words on screen. Not run, Not needed, and Not recorded share one glyph in the timeline and are announced only to a screen reader, so if you are looking at a step marked with a plain dash, this table is where you find out which of the three it is.
Phase-group summaries
Steps are grouped into phases, and a whole phase can carry its own word. A resume import is the job you are most likely to read these on. Two of them read almost alike and mean opposite things.
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Failed at step | the phase stopped at the named step |
| Never started | the phase is finished business and did not run |
| Not started | the phase has not run yet, and still may |
The key distinction
Stuck and Appears stuck are warnings about a pending job. They are not separate server states.
