How ATSReady distinguishes your Base and tailored resumes, how a job link affects editing, and when a tailored resume becomes read-only.

What a tailored resume is
A tailored resume is linked to one saved job. ATSReady creates it when you tailor a resume for that job, and it stays separate from your Base resume — the one the product labels Base and treats as your default document. Tailoring is one of the actions that spends your monthly job import allowance.
When a tailored resume becomes read-only
A tailored resume becomes read-only when its linked job is no longer in the first column of the jobs board.
A tailored resume does not become read-only just because:
- the linked job card is missing,
- the jobs board has not loaded yet,
- the jobs board is empty,
- or the original column no longer exists.
Reading the locked banner
A locked resume carries a banner naming the board column the job currently sits in, and ending with a fixed instruction:
Move the job back to "Saved" to edit.
Those two halves come from different places, and on a renamed board they will not agree. The lock is decided by position — the board's first column, whatever it is called — while the word in quotation marks is fixed copy naming the first column's default name. If you renamed that column, move the job to the column that is first, not to one called Saved.
There is no screenshot of the banner on this page. Showing it needs an account holding a tailored resume whose linked job has already been moved off the first column, and the account these captures come from does not have one.
How to work around a lock
- Move the linked job back to the first board column.
- Open the Base resume instead.
- Export the tailored version if you only need the current document.
A locked resume is also a locked push target: Push Professional Journey content to a resume lists it so you can see where it went, and will not write to it.
