First-time setup
Understand the current ATSReady setup flow, the four setup steps, and what happens if you leave before finishing.

The first-time setup flow collects the minimum information ATSReady needs before the main app workflows are fully available.
What the setup flow contains
ATSReady shows an introduction screen and then four setup steps:
- Resume Upload — see Import a resume
- Contact & Links
- Work Eligibility
- Work Preferences
The last three collect the same information you can change later on Preferences.
What changes by step
The footer under the wizard carries Back, Skip for now, and one forward button, which reads Next until the last step and Finish setup on it.
- Skip for now is on every step. Skipping is how the wizard is designed to be used, not a failure path, and the steps you skip stay reopenable afterwards.
- Resume Upload is the one step with no Next. Its forward action is the import control inside the card itself, so a Next in the footer would only repeat it. Accepted file types and size ceilings are on File types and size limits.
- Back appears once there is a step behind you. If ATSReady already has your resume, the upload step is behind a floor and Back stops at Contact & Links — a second import of the same file duplicates awards, certifications, and projects in your Professional Journey rather than merging them.
- If you reopen skipped steps later, the wizard resumes at Contact & Links for the same reason, instead of reopening the upload step.
This page carries no screenshot. The wizard only renders while setup is unfinished, and the account these screenshots come from finished it.
If you leave before finishing
ATSReady can keep redirecting you back to Get started until setup is complete.
Use Finish setup later for the recovery path and the list of routes that still stay available while setup is incomplete.
